David Beckett
A renown Canadian portrait photographer, David’s trained keen eye for beauty and composition make his paintings come to life.
Born into the Hamilton-based Beckett family of photographers and art dealers, David has always been surrounded by an endless array of artwork.
“There was a point in my twenties that I began to move in for a closer look - fascinated by the colour, composition , paint strokes and what was left untouched. I was learning by observing. I enjoyed drawing from an early age, but my first paintings were made in 1997 during a three-month trip to Ghana, West Africa. It was an explosive experience painting on the streets of Accra.”
Currently David gravitates to rural Ontario to paint, drawn to the country and the beauty found on the backroads.
